PureDesk Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This policy explains how the PureDesk Windows app, website, and supporting cloud services process personal information. Core desktop organization works offline; accounts, store downloads, Pro entitlements, and optional cloud sync require network access.
1. Information we process
- Local desktop data: PureDesk reads file names, paths, types, modified times, icons, and thumbnails from desktop or custom folders you choose so it can organize and display them on your device. This data stays on your device by default and is not automatically uploaded to PureDesk servers.
- Account and service data: if you register or sign in, we process your email address, verification codes, password hash, nickname, avatar, login sessions, app version, Pro entitlements, and resource download history. We do not store plaintext passwords.
- Optional cloud sync data: settings and content from a supported plugin, such as notes or agenda data, are uploaded only after you enable cloud sync for that plugin.
- Feedback and support data: if you submit feedback, we process the contact email, message, category, language, and app version you provide. We may also use request-related technical information to prevent abuse.
- Weather and location data: the weather plugin uses a city you enter or select and may send the city name or corresponding coordinates to weather and geocoding providers. PureDesk does not read precise GPS location in the background.
2. How we use information
- Provide sign-in, resource downloads, Pro entitlements, avatars, plugin sync, and customer support.
- Display and organize desktop files, app shortcuts, agenda items, notes, weather, and news on your device.
- Protect accounts and services, prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, and troubleshoot problems.
- Fulfill purchase, redemption, legal compliance, and dispute-resolution obligations.
3. Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising. We may disclose necessary information to Cloudflare (API hosting, database, object storage, and operational logs), Resend (verification and service email), Mianbaoduo (purchase and order verification), and Open-Meteo, wttr.in, OpenStreetMap Nominatim, and news sources you select (weather, geocoding, and news content). These providers may receive your IP address and data needed to complete a request and process it under their own privacy policies.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or our services, or as part of a corporate reorganization.
4. Retention, security, and international processing
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide services, resolve disputes, perform security reviews, and meet legal obligations. Verification codes and download tokens expire quickly. Account, entitlement, sync, and support records remain until no longer needed or until we complete a valid deletion request. Service logs and backups may take longer to delete under provider retention schedules.
PureDesk uses HTTPS for service data in transit, stores password hashes rather than plaintext passwords, and restricts administrative access. Providers may process information in countries other than yours; where required, we use safeguards recognized by applicable law.
5. Your choices and rights
- You can use core local desktop organization without signing in.
- You can enable or disable cloud sync per plugin, change the weather city, disable network plugins, or sign out.
- Uninstalling PureDesk removes local data created by the app; it does not delete your original desktop files.
- You may contact us to request access, correction, export, or deletion of account information. We may verify your identity before completing a request.
6. Children, changes, and contact
PureDesk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. We may update this policy as features, laws, or providers change and will revise the date on this page.
